About
our Pearls:
Singular Elegance Jewelry
uses only freshwater pearls in our pearl jewelry.
Traditionally, cultured seawater pearls were used
for pearl necklaces and earrings. Those were grown
in oysters, were round in shape and were very costly.
Freshwater pearls are grown in
mollusks, generally mussels, and have many different
shapes and sizes. A single mussel can produce 10
or more pearls. Natural colors can range from white,
lavender, peach, or pink. Other colors are produced
by dyes introduced while the pearl is forming.
Because freshwater pearls are not
manufactured, but produced in nature, many have
lines, flat sides, or irregular surfaces. We recognize
and emphasize their diverse beauty in creating necklaces,
bracelets and earrings from these unique products
of nature. Our modern pearls are not uniform, they
are not perfectly round, and they are not always
symmetrical. They combine to make works of art.
Celebrate the beauty of nature!
These are NOT your grandmother’s
pearls. |
